How to play

Rock beats Scissors, Scissors beats Paper, and Paper beats Rock — the same three rules as the game played with hands, just played against the computer.

Choose your move by clicking a button, tapping on a touchscreen, or pressing R, P or S on your keyboard.

The computer's move is chosen at the same moment as yours, using your browser's random number generator, so there's no way to predict it in advance.

A tie happens whenever you and the computer choose the same move — it doesn't count as a win or a loss, but it's tracked separately in your score.

Tips

  • Over a long run, no single move wins more often than the others — the computer's choice is independent every round.
  • If you're playing against a friend instead of the computer, revealing your hand at the same time (a countdown of “rock, paper, scissors, shoot”) keeps it fair.
  • Use Reset Score to start a fresh streak without reloading the page.
